ABOUT DAVID WEBBER
David Webber began his business life in the City of London in 1962, joining a well-renowned commodity broking and trading firm. After starting in shipping and administration, he moved to another firm and switched to the sugar derivatives market. This led to a long and successful career in broking and later into management, eventually at director level.
During a 43 year career, David built up a large portfolio of contacts in many countries around the world, particularly in North and Latin America, the Far East and Europe. As the derivatives business evolved into other areas of commodity trading, he oversaw the development of new clientele in the energy sector and financial instruments, as well as the growth of managed money, through investment and hedge funds.
For three years David part-owned his own company, before it was merged with ING Bank’s derivatives operation. He experienced the transfer of the majority of the commodity business owners from private companies to banking and other financial institutions, working for ING Bank, Citigroup and Fortis Bank.
David retired in 2005 but found his services were still in demand, so launched Cormorant Services in 2007.
